Those who can, teach.

I teach guitar and coach singers, songwriters and performers at Maple Street Guitars in Atlanta and at home in Kirkwood. I began teaching guitar in 1978 at Ken Stanton Music in Marietta, Georgia, my hometown. I have a degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Georgia State University where I studied with John Sutherland, a student of Andres Segovia.

I organize an annual Master Class for my students, and guests have included Amy Ray, Emily Saliers, Sonia Leigh, Girlyman, John McCutcheon,  Sam McPherson and Michelle Melone.

The last Saturday of every month I hold an informal guitar get-together for my students and their friends where we workshop songwriters’ new songs, jam, perform and talk music theory, guitars, and snack on guacamole, salsa and chips from La Fonda.
